| I talked to Matt Parra, an Air Force guy who works with my dad, while i was workin out after school today. While he was rambling on and on about how the Falcons were gonna decimate Navy tonight, I found myself thinking about what his shirt said.
It said, in simple black letters, "Nobody loves a soldier until the enemy's at the gate".
I'm sittin here watching Navy go up 14-6 in the 2nd quarter and now more than ever i regret my decision sophomore year not to pursue the Air Force Academy. I want to make a difference in whatever i do. I'm not the most patriotic type, but i feel hipocritical when I see guys a little older than me goin through hell in the desert over there while i sit around in an air-conditioned house in Johnson county typin this | | |

Here's a neat quote from my favorite source of quotes: Dune
"A man may fight the greatest enemy, take the longest journey, survive the most grievous wound—and still be helpless in the hands of the woman he loves" - Paul Atreides

Send away for a priceless gift One not subtle, one not on the list Send away for a perfect world One not simply, so absurd In these times of doing what you're told You keep these feelings, no one knows What ever happened to the young man's heart Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart
And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45, Swimming through the ashes of another life No real reason to accept the way things have changed Staring down the barrel of a 45
Send a message to the unborn child Keep your eyes open for a while In a box high up on the shelf, left for you, no one else There's a piece of a puzzle known as life Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight
What ever happened to the young man's heart Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart.

| Labor Day is nice. A day to sleep and do no labor. I'm workin on my application to Wichita State. The only way I'll go there is if I get that 40K scholarship and the only way to do that is to get admitted by Oct. 1. It's crazy, but I gotta do it. I'm havin a little trouble on my personal statement. I'm not sure what I should talk about. It's a public school and they have to take me but I still wanna make a good impression.
